- Blossom Cosplay
Blossom was an experiment. Mainly because the wig I bought. I typically use wigs that I already own for my cosplays. I was taking a risk with Blossom’s wig that I got from Amazon. When I bought red wigs in the past, it wasn’t really the red that I expected. Luckily, when this wig came I was relieved when I tried it on, because the color looked gorgeous. I must say the wig is very soft. I did not expect this kind of softness from a wig that costed 40/50 bucks. I was very pleased with the wig, because it barely tangled, which was a concern because I had to put the hair in a high ponytail. Later, I realized the soft hair could pose as a problem, because I was afraid that the ponytail wouldn’t last due to how soft it was. However, I was able to combat the softness with hairspray. So, if you have hairspray, spritzer, or Got To Be Glue spray it definitely helped toughen up the hair. For the make up look, I wanted to do a variety of reds, but definitely not bright reds. I wanted to make sure to avoid bright reds, because I didn’t want my eyelids to be too bright due to the contacts. The contacts I got was a bright red from Lensweets (get your discount on the Discount section of the website). If I did bright eyeshadow with the loud contacts I wore, they are going to clash together. For my eye look, I got some ideas from somebody’s Instagram post. I screenshot the look. While I was doing the makeup I couldn’t mirror it exactly, but at least I had a blueprint of what I wanted to do. I was pretty satisfied with that. Some people know this about me, but I want to give a reminder that I don’t like eyeliner. It’s difficult to get off, so on my bottom lash line I put red eyeshadow. After I contoured and highlighted my face, I did something controversial. I didn’t have my blushes. I had a variety of pink, orange, and brown. I don’t know where they are, but I thought I packed up before I went down south for a little while. I don’t know where they are till this day. I was on a time crunch, so I had to use my eyeshadows in my Urban Decay palette to create a blush on my cheeks after I contour to my face. I couldn’t find my other lipsticks and lip glosses either. I had so many colors. I probably threw them away as well. I did something else that’s probably controversial. I put on carmax on my lips. I took my finger and rubbed my finger on the glittery, reddish pink eyeshadow palette and applied it on my lips. It was a pretty color. I was impressed As for the outfits, Blossom is red in the Powerpuff Girl. I know characters inside the Star Wars world that has light red associated with the color/outfit black. Therefore, I thought a black outfit would be perfect for Blossom’s Star Wars and Powerpuff Girls project combo. As for the reels, I closet cosplayed for her as well. I owned a burgundy wrap dress that I always loved. Blossom has a bow on top of her head and I used a silky scarf that complimented the dress. For the reels I just wanted to have a casual outfit. I decided to create reels from the funny moments in the Powerpuff Girls show and one of my favorite movies, Mean Girls. Lastly, I need to talk about the red-light saber. Unfortunately, the red-light saber did the same thing like the other two. It was not as bright as I hoped. I had to use the photographers light stick again to change it to red, so we can use it for Blossom’s Star Wars look. It was kind of frustrating process, but we couldn’t be frustrated for too long because his made up light stick worked so perfectly. Once you see the photos after the edits; it worked so well. I will post to the website. I think you’ll really appreciate my idea.

- Buttercup Blog
The cosplay that was the most fun to do during this Powerpuff Girls project was definitely Buttercup. I always thought that I look good wearing green, and in brunette or black hair. I knew the ideas for Buttercup was going to complement my features. First and foremost, I owned a wig that’s a bob style with straight bangs, I used it before for my Malaria cosplay, which is from the Adventures of Billy and Mandy. Not sure if you know, but Malaria was Grim’s girlfriend. Anyway, back to Buttercup. So that was the last time I used that wig, but Buttercup has a bob. I thought the wig would be perfect. As for the make up, I was debating if I was going to go very green, like how I went very blue with Bubbles or red like Blossom. After sleeping on the idea, I decided to be a little simpler, because she’s a tomboy. My idea was to use natural, earthy tones on my top lid and on my bottom lash line I decide to put a bright green. The lash line acted as an accent for my eye shape, and the green colored contacts that I found on Lensweets. I already have a scar on my right eyebrow, so I highlighted by using a concealer. I wanted to remind people she’s tough. Which brings me to the contacts. Just like bubbles and blossom, I found contacts off a website called Lensweets (the discount will be in the Discount section of the website). I wasn’t concerned with the green contacts as I was with Bubbles. Like I mentioned before with Bubbles, the blue contacts gave blue green tone, whereas Buttercup it was a true green color contact. As for Buttercup’s outfit I was still going for the Star Wars and Powerpuff Girls combination, When I was looking at Buttercup, she’s green and has black hair. I thought to myself, which Star Wars outfits I can use for her? I started looking at the Star Wars roster again during the different movies and TV shows. I saw characters that had brown earthy color outfits, which is funny to say because of Star Wars. Nothing is really earthy about Star Wars. However, that’s the best way I can describe the brown colors that I experienced. Also, the outfit I had in mind would complement Buttercup’s black hair and green eyes. I got the same light saber brand from Amazon that I got for Bubbles. Unfortunately, the green one that I got from Amazon has the same issues as the blue. It wasn’t as bright, so like the other Powerpuff Girls, I had to use the photographers light stick to act as a light saber, and it worked perfectly. Which we shouldn’t have to do, but that was our reality and we needed a solution. For my reels, I opted for another closet cosplay. I found a green jumpsuit that I owned for a few years now. The top of the jumpsuit was off the shoulder. The outfit was simple, cute, and easy to move in. I did a combination of scenes from the Powerpuff show and one of my favorite movies, Mean Girls.

- Bubbles Cosplay
Bubbles was my most difficult character to cosplay simply because I had to wear blonde hair. I always believe that my skin with blonde hair doesn’t mash well. I found my wig on Amazon. I went to Amazon and shopped around for some blonde front lace wigs. I was debating if I was going to go with the cheapest option, which was about 15/20 bucks. A more medium option would be looking about 50 to 60 bucks. On the higher end the wigs were going to be over $100. I picked a 50/60-dollar wig. I loved the way the wig felt, but I hate how it looked on me. Hey! I need to complete the look. Next, I was trying to figure out a make up look. I started searching on Pinterest, which is the main source I like to visit. I get my ideas sometimes during a Google search. Instagram is another place look for make up looks. I was looking at blue makeup themes and natural themes. I eventually settled on a blue eyeshadow look. I tried to do a little bit of contour and highlight for my face. Since my blue eyes was really loud and intense, I opted for my natural lip color. I feel like if I put on any other color lipstick/lip-gloss it would be too much. Another reason why my eyes were kind of intense was because I got blue contacts. I found the contacts from a website called Lensweets (you can use the discount on the Discount section of the website). I decided to wear blue, because Bubbles have blue eyes. However, when I put the contacts in, I’m not going to lie, I was kind of nervous. The contacts seemed like a bluish greenish color, but when you look at the photos and reels it works perfectly. I would call it an unexpected Success. As for my outfit for the photo shoot, I was going for a Star Wars and Powerpuff Girl combination. I was looking at photos of different Star Wars characters. I noticed people wearing different white cream outfits. I thought these colors and outfits would be perfect for Bubbles, because she’s blue and has blonde hair. I found a blue light saber on Amazon. However, it wasn’t that bright. So, during the photo shoot, I had to use the photographer’s light stick and we were able to change the light to blue. The light stick gave the amount of light we needed to do the Star Wars look. During the shoot I was trying to portray fighting or getting ready to fight. To catch some good shots, I am random with my poses. Sometimes the most awkward poses makes for a good photo. As for my reels and other short form videos I didn’t want to do my Star Wars look. I plan to make that decision for all of the Powerpuff Girls. I opted to do a closet cosplay with a blue dress that I already own. I felt like if I did the Star Wars and power puff combination for reels wouldn’t make sense for my audience. However, for the photoshoot it my concept was beautifully done in my opinion.
