Why I Would Never Live in the World of Attack on Titan
(And Why You Shouldn’t Either)
Anime fans love the adrenaline-pumping action, epic battles, and emotional storytelling of Attack on Titan. But let’s be real: living in that world would be one of the worst decisions anyone could make. If you think you’d be fine swinging around with ODM gear, think again. Here’s why I would absolutely avoid the Attack on Titan universe at all costs.
1. The Constant Threat of Titans
Let’s start with the obvious: Titans. These gigantic, humanoid monsters roam the world outside the walls, devouring humans for no reason other than instinct.
They’re nearly indestructible unless you hit a tiny spot on the back of their neck.
They don’t tire, don’t need to eat anything but humans, and are relentless in their pursuit of destruction.
Worst of all, many Titans were once humans, which makes their existence even more tragic and horrifying.
Even within the walls, you’re never truly safe. Titans have breached the walls more than once, turning towns and villages into feeding grounds. Imagine living your life knowing at any moment, a colossal hand might come crashing through your home. No thanks.
2. Humanity Is Trapped Like Livestock
Living in the Attack on Titan world means being confined to a few remaining areas protected by enormous walls. It’s a life of limitations, with little room for freedom or exploration. You’d feel more like cattle than a human, penned in and waiting for the inevitable day when the walls fail. Resources are scarce, overpopulation is common, and every day feels like a countdown to disaster.
3. The Psychological Toll of Living in Fear
Imagine the mental strain of living in constant fear of being eaten alive. Even if the Titans don’t attack, the looming threat of their existence creates an oppressive atmosphere of dread. You’d have nightmares of those toothy grins, and the anxiety would be paralyzing. It’s not just a physical battle—it’s a mental one, and not everyone is cut out for the daily terror of Attack on Titan’s world.
4. Society Is Oppressive and Corrupt
Even if the Titans weren’t a threat, humanity’s society within the walls is a mess. The government is corrupt, withholding critical information from the public and prioritizing the elite over the common people.
The military police serve the wealthy in the inner walls, leaving those in the outer districts to fend for themselves.
The common folk are treated as expendable, especially when the military demands resources or manpower for their endless battles.
There’s no sense of fairness or equality in this society. If you’re born poor, your life is almost guaranteed to be miserable. And don’t even think about questioning authority—dissent is swiftly and harshly dealt with.
5. Death Is Inevitable
The Attack on Titan world is a meat grinder, and almost no one is safe from its brutality.
Joining the military? You’ll likely be crushed, eaten, or burned alive in your first battle.
Staying a civilian? If the Titans breach the walls, you’re one of the first to die.
Even if you manage to survive, you’ll lose friends, family, and hope along the way.
This world is a death sentence, plain and simple. The rare characters who survive are usually scarred—mentally, emotionally, and physically—for life.
6. War Never Ends
If the Titans weren’t bad enough, the story reveals that humanity is also at war with itself. The existence of Marley and the Eldians adds layers of political conflict and betrayal, creating an endless cycle of violence. This means that even if you survive the Titans, you’ll likely be caught in the crossfire of human conflict. War is everywhere, and it’s just as devastating as the Titans themselves. Peace is a distant dream that no one can afford to believe in.
7. The Truth Is Worse Than the Lies
One of the most chilling aspects of the Attack on Titan world is the revelation that the walls, the Titans, and even the history of humanity are based on lies. When the truth about the Titans and the origins of the Eldians is revealed, it only makes things worse. The world is far more dangerous and complicated than anyone imagined, and those in power will do anything to keep their control. Living in a world where your entire reality is a fabricated story designed to manipulate you is deeply unsettling. Ignorance may be bliss, but in Attack on Titan, even the bliss is horrifying.
8. No Happy Endings
If you’re thinking, “Maybe I’d be the one to change things and save humanity,” let me remind you that Attack on Titan thrives on crushing hope. Every victory comes at an enormous cost, and even the most heroic efforts rarely lead to lasting peace or happiness. The few moments of triumph are overshadowed by the immense suffering and sacrifices it takes to get there.
In this world, there are no happy endings—only fleeting moments of relief before the next disaster strikes.
9. You’re at the Mercy of Fate
The Attack on Titan world is one where fate seems to have a vendetta against humanity. The Titans’ very existence feels like a cruel joke, designed to keep people in a constant state of fear and despair. Even the protagonists, who fight tooth and nail for a better future, are often powerless to escape their destinies. In a world like this, where even the strongest wills are crushed by fate, what chance does the average person have?
Why I’m Staying Far Away
The Attack on Titan universe is a masterpiece of storytelling, but living there would be a nightmare. Between the constant threat of Titans, the corrupt society, and the inevitability of death, there’s no part of this world that feels remotely livable. I’ll stick to watching the Survey Corps’ heroic struggles from the safety of my couch, thank you very much. If you’re dreaming of swinging around with ODM gear or taking down Titans, just remember: even the bravest warriors in this world don’t get a happy ending. Would you dare to live in Attack on Titan’s world, or are you smart enough to stay far away? Let me know in the comments—just don’t tell me you’d survive better than Levi. Bottom of Form
